The summer holidays are fast approaching, and with it comes weeks of freedom with friends, days out with family, and ignoring that school project until the last week of August. Here at Halfords we all have fond memories of those six weeks off school. Filling our days with riding our bikes around the block, playing video games, building dens or devouring the latest Harry Potter novel. But we also remember those long, lazy days where absolutely nothing could entertain us.

If you’re stuck for ways to keep your little ones occupied this summer and would like to avoid those cries of, ‘But I’m booooooored!’, then you might want to take a look at the new stuff we’ve got in to help stave those boredom blues off.

Crazy about Cars

Peppa Pig fan in your house? Then you can’t go wrong with the Peppa Pig Ride On Car. This adorable electric ride on is in classic Peppa Pig pink and operates just like a real car with both forward and reverse gears! A top speed of 2km/h and a run time of 60 minutes makes it ideal for a quick ride around the garden.

And then there are the Roadsterz Quads, perfect for tiny daredevils. They won’t be able to get enough of zooming around on these super cool machines!

Manic about Motorbikes

If your tot is fascinated by motors upon two wheels, you may want to take a look at our range of motorbike electric ride ons. Perfect for toddlers aged 3 and over, these are fantastic tiny replicas bound to stir the imagination and get them excited!

The Mini Moto Ride On Trike is a rugged-looking machine that comes in two colours. It has three wheels for tots that are still learning the art of balance, and has a top speed of 3km/h! With a run time of 60 minutes it’s the perfect amount of time for kids to blow off some steam outside without spending all day on them.

Get a Retro Ride

The Schwinn Roadster Trike is arguably the coolest of our summer toys. Made from sturdy steel, this retro trike has a bell, handcrafted wooden deck, and grows with your child. Available in both classic red and British racing green, this will provide them with some serious street cred.

Keen on Go Karts

I loved the go kart I got for my fourth birthday; I still remember it now. And they’ve come a long way since then!

Both our Downforce Go Kart and the Kettler Torino feature a free wheel and a rear handbrake, and the Downforce has pneumatic tyres as well. Pneumatic tyres are fab as they’re much quieter than plastic wheels, and they also provide more grip, making them a lot safer. Free wheels also help out on the safety aspect as it stops the pedals from rotating when they’re racing downhill!

Psyched about Scooters

Scooters will always be cool, there’s no denying that. But an electric scooter? That’s just off the charts! The Zinc Volt 120 is an amazing piece of kit aimed at kids aged 8 and up. They’ll be positively flying along on this thanks to its top speed of 12 mph! It’s chain driven, which means it lasts a lot longer than belt driven models. It’s also really good for balance, but above all it’s just incredibly fun!

Serious about Skateboards

Nothing’s quite like cruising along the pavement on a sunny afternoon, so it’s handy that Mongoose have released three new skateboards just in time for those elusive sunny days!

First up, there’s the uber cool 22″ Light Up Skateboard. Yep, you read that right; the wheels on this bad boy light up as you glide along. And they don’t even require batteries! Sweet.

On the more traditional side we have the 29″ Cruiser Skateboard and the 40″ Longboard. Both of these have a Canadian maple deck – the best material out there for a sturdy and long-lasting board. They also have aluminium trucks to make them lighter, and PU wheels absorb bumps in the road for a smooth ride – helping you to avoid wipeouts!

As you can see, here at Halfords we’re all set for a super summer of toys. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that we’ve seen the last of the rain, and let the fun commence!
