Want to make the most of those early hours of daylight? Here are our top 5 things to do when time is on your side in the morning!

  1. Ride your bike!

Keen cyclist? If you get the same amount of sleep, you’ll be up an hour ‘earlier’ than normal, making the roads quieter! You’ll be able to sneak in a longer ride in the morning before everyone else is up, and be back in time for breakfast – the perfect crime…

  1. Get your car ready for winter

Make the most of a lighter morning by giving your car a once over before winter. That means checking your bulbs, wiper blades and battery, as well as making sure you have enough oil, antifreeze and screenwash. Don’t want to do it all yourself? Drive your car to your nearest Halfords and we’ll check all of these things for you for free – as well as topping up your screenwash for you!

  1. Have some fun with the kids!

We might be heading into winter, but you can still get outside and have some fun! Take your kids to the local park with some ride-on toys and make the most of the light, or teach them how to ride a bike before it gets cold out!

  1. Get ready for some DIY

Feeling handy? After a summer of having a garden to care for and working outside, your garage or shed might look a bit like a hurricane in a garden centre, with lawnmowers, tools and car cleaning kit all over the place. Now that winter’s on the way you might find yourself having to get things done inside the garage instead of just using it as storage! Invest in some tool cabinets, refresh your selection of tools and have a clear out so you can get on with some DIY!

6. Get prepared for winter

No matter what you do with your extra hour this weekend, you can make sure you’re ready for some darker drives home from work with our free winter car health check. As well as taking a look at your car battery, wiper blades and oil, we can help you find exactly the right bulbs for your car in a jiffy, and fit them for you too!

Prefer to commute by bike? Take a look at our bike lights guide instead! Then, get yourself kitted out with some bike lights and you can keep on pedalling until the summer comes around again!
