This weekend, 1700 ladies set off for a 100km loop of central London… at night! The event ran from 9pm on Saturday night until 7am on Sunday morning, but the event went on much longer for our team of mechanics!

Our mechanics can be seen at cycling events all over the country, ready to provide help to riders. Whether you just want us to check your bike before you head out on your big ride, or you’ve had a big mechanical problem and need help to get back on the road, we’ve got you covered.

FullSizeRender3We sent 15 mechanics to support the ride, setting up a workshop at each of the four feed stations along the route, as well as our base at the start/finish. From here, the team can make last minute tweaks and adjustments, as well as having all the essentials you might have forgotten! We can also respond calls to help riders out on the road using our support vehicles. Inside these cars is enough kit to completely strip down and rebuild your bike and, if it’s not repairable, we have spare bikes on the roof!

From the first event last year, our mechanics knew to expect lots of fancy dress, lots of pink, and a lot of fun raising money for a great cause! Among the riders was our very own Heather, who had never ridden as far as 100km before. Along with a huge mix of other riders, she cycled through the night to cover the distance. We caught up with her to find out how she got on!

Heather: ‘Before I started, and got my lights fitted and my bike checked by the mechanics. I’ve just upgraded to a Boardman Road Sport Fi for the ride! It was a long time in the saddle, but I got to the end and had a great time! It started raining at about 1am, but we didn’t notice the cold until we stopped, and we had our waterproofs.’

IMG_1514 Tales from the team Of course, our mechanics came back with some great stories too! The team were busy all weekend making sure that everyone had a great time and got around safely. That meant being one third mechanic, one third motivational speaker and one third counsellor!

Locals provided support to the riders along the route (some of them in the early hours after leaving bars and clubs!) and the route took in all the sights of the capital. There was a huge range of riders, bikes, and levels of preparation, but with the help of our mechanics, nobody was left behind!

Stay tuned for more tales from behind the scenes with our mechanics crew, as they help people on their adventures around the country! Take a look at the gallery below for some photos!
