Want to know how to look after your bike properly? Or learn how to get back on the road after a puncture? Then you’ll be glad to hear that here at Halfords we’ll be holding some free bike maintenance lessons for women on 20th May! We’ll be covering all the basics, so it’s great for women who are new to cycling and want to know how to take care of their bikes.
The workshops will take place at Halfords stores all over the country, and we’ll take you through all the jobs you might encounter when you’re looking after your bike. They’re hands-on and interactive, so be prepared to get your hands dirty! You don’t even have to bring your bike with you – just book a space at www.halfords.com/womensbikeworkshop and come along.
At the moment, three times as many men cycle regularly in comparison to women (and the gap is continuing to grow), so we think it would be great if things were a bit more evenly matched! To try and kick start this change we’re working closely with Breeze, a British Cycling programme aiming to get more women cycling.
If there’s a local Breeze Champion in your area (a female volunteer trained to get more women cycling) then they’ll turn up to the Halfords women’s bike workshop. These volunteers organise local rides of all lengths for women, and will be more than happy to have a chat with you about how you can get out on your bike more often.
Of course the workshops are also a fantastic way to meet other women in your area who are interested in cycling. You’ll be able to gain more confidence when it comes to looking after your bike, and even find some new friends to go for a ride with!
Fancy joining us? Visit www.halfords.com/womensbikeworkshop now to book your place at a free bike workshop for this May 20th. Be sure to get in quick to avoid disappointment!
